General Motors’ Hummer, EV, Vette, and Cruze are all high-performance vehicles with strong personalities. The all-new Hummer, EV, and Vette are electrically powered, plug-in hybrids, and sport utility vehicles. The new Ford Motor Company’s Hummer, EV, and Vette is also gasoline-powered, so they can be used in both “real” world and “hybrid” worlds. The new General Motors’ Hummer, EV, and Vette are intended for commercial trucks, sedans, and minivans. The all-new GMC Hummer EV, however, is primarily an off-road luxury EV, and its sub-brand is simply known as Hummer.
The name of the vehicle evokes a sense of familiarity. Like its modern-day predecessors, it is largely manufactured of lightweight aluminum for strength and low weight. And like its contemporary forefathers, the Hummer suv offers a spacious passenger compartment, with room for at least two adults and up to five children (with the capacity to seat a seventh child if so required). The front and rear seats recline fully in the event that you need to liven up the ride. Both rear seats swivel for easy access to the trunk. It’s a long way from the old Ford Focus, but then again, this isn’t your dad’s Ford anymore.
If you were lucky enough to have inherited a General Motors Hummer, you are probably quite content with it. The good news is, the manufacturer has not yet ceased production of Hummers, and this means that you can still enjoy the ride, even when it is not in production. The wait for the first model of this vehicle, the Hummer Ev, will only begin once the product has been officially introduced. That said, there are already limited availability options. Of course, the higher the price tag that you will pay for this vehicle, the lower the likelihood that you will be able to find a dealer selling them.
The new GMC Hummer Ev promises to be a far cry from its ancestor, the Hummer H2, which only produced 1,000 horsepower. Now, the new EV from GM boasts of eleven thousand pounds of torque. To put that in perspective, that is more than twice as much as the Ford Focus. And that is just for a rear-axle vehicle, as the front engine model also has eleven thousand pounds of torque.
As if that was not enough, GMC has designed the Hummer Ev for a simpler and easier to operate, even for the beginner, with simpler controls and a manual throttle. In fact, the company claims that the new EV has just two buttons for operation, versus six on the older model. And it offers up to eleven thousand pound-feet of torque, versus seven hundred and fifty for the Focus. So clearly, there is a marked improvement when it comes to power. And that improvement is accompanied by an increase in size, with each model of Hummer Ev hitting the market at the lower end of the passenger car segment, with a base price of around three thousand dollars.
While the new Hummer or has some pretty impressive features, one thing that the company is certainly doing differently is the styling of the models. Rather than the funky, cartoonish looks that have characterized the original model, the new Hummer or is more understated, to reflect the fact that it will be used as a rental vehicle more than anything else. And it will not be the only truck on the road, at least not for long. An exact replacement of the previous model is yet to be finalized, but GMC expects that it will be offered alongside the first edition of the Hummer Ev. So for those looking for a truck that will be around for quite a while, this could well be the right model. But then again, for those who are looking for a full-scale alternative to the pickup truck series, it might not be a bad idea to get the second edition.
So for all Hummer Ev customers out there, we would say that good things are afoot! There will be no need to worry about the low speeds, as they will still be able to run at the same high speed as the original Hummer Ev. And for those looking to customize their trucks, it is entirely possible for you to do so and create something truly unique for your ride. The company says that the new edition will offer custom paint options, so if that is what you are after, then it may be worth your while to wait a little longer. It is a very popular idea, however, as low speeds are among the least desirable attributes of a Hummer, and with it being available, it may give competition to the already highly popular Ford Fusion, which has an almost fanatical following of owners.
The exterior of the Hummer Ev, as you can see, is set to differ from the first generation, with a sleeker, more modern design, the same as seen on the production models. The same goes for the cabin, where the new model is set to offer more compartmentalization and greater comfort. All in all, we are expecting a truck that is sleeker, cooler and more roomy – and with the standard interior being 12.3 inches, it is easy to see how GMC Hummer Ev SUVs could end up being some of the most attractive vehicles on the market today.
